While in London, last month, I tried to get in touch with people interested in being portrayed here. One of the first people who was enthusiastic about it was John. He said he lived in Walworth, South London, a region undergoing gentrification, whose newest landmark is the Strata Tower, dubbed “The Razor” by the locals. John said he lived some blocks from the Heygate Estate, a huge housing project from mid 1970´s, now undergoing demolition, as part of a controversial regeneration program for the area. So, one night, we set off to the almost completely vacated Estate to see what it had to offer us.

Once there, a little disappointment. What was, until the previous weeks, a set of vacated buildings whose access was up to then free, was blocked, and fenced. Not just that, now that most the occupants were driven out, security guards patrolled the premises. Since shooting inside the buildings was not an option, we opted for the streets around it. Here’s what we saw and did that night.
