Um tempo antes de a gente se encontrar no DIGO, Antony Hickling e eu começamos a falar sobre fazer fotos. Nossas discussões envolviam o trabalho dele como cineasta, e como ele evoluiu ao longo dos anos. Num dado ponto chegou-se à conclusão de que, de uma certa forma, os trabalhos dele começaram cada vez mais a se mover desde um ambiente de matas e florestas, que ele relaciona a bem estar e uma sensação vaga de segurança, pra locais mais urbanos. Nós deveríamos começar a fotografar em algum ambiente de mata e ter sequências pelas ruas da cidade, até um momento com ele realmente adentrando um cinema e sendo fotografado lá dentro. Nossa idéia de fazer uma série mostrando isso acabou não se realizando nas poucas noites que passei por lá, mas ao menos conseguimos trabalhar na última parte, graças à produção do festival, que nos conseguiu um dos cinemas mais antigos da cidade. E lá fomos nós…

A while before we met at DIGO Festival, Antony Hickling and I started talking about making photos. Our discussions involved his work as a film maker, and how it evolved along the years. At some point we got to the fact that, in a sense, his works more and more started moving from the woods, that he relates to well being and a general sense of safety, to more urban venues. We were supposed to start shooting in the woods and have sequences along the city streets, until a final segment, of him actually entering a movie theatre and being shot in there. Our idea of making a series depicting that didn’t quite work out in the few nights I had in the city, but at least we got to work on the last part of it, thanks to the festival producers, who got us some time in one of the oldest movie theatres in town. So there we went…
