Desde que comecei a interagir com Helder, muito antes de minha ida a Goiás pra participar do DIGO, em nossos experimentos em busca da maneira através da qual ele participaria no projeto, surgiu a idéia de incorporar o trabalho de gravuras que ele realiza e de alguma fora fundi-lo com o meu.

Ao mesmo tempo em que a gente brincou num jogo de experimentações com o corpo dele nas mais diversas posições, eu buscava saber de coisas que mexiam com ele, coisas que amava e que eram significativas. Daí surgiu a idéia de usar a mesa antiga, em que ele gosta de trabalhar, em alguma imagem.

Um passo seguinte foi sugerir usar o próprio corpo de Helder como substrato pra alguma obra que ele criasse, e daí fazer uma fotografia envolvendo o criador e a obra fundidos. Pra tornar a coisa mais complicada ainda (“I’m only happy when it’s complicated”) eu imaginei dirigi-lo à distância pra fazer fotos na mesa, e escolher uma dessas imagens pra que ele fizesse uma matriz. A partir dessa matriz seria feita a impressão no corpo dele, e então registraria o resultado final de todo o processo em fotos.

E assim aconteceu. Numa das tardes em que interagimos remotamente eu dirigi algumas fotos na mesa. A partir de uma imagem escolhida ele criou a matriz que geraria a impressão. Quando fui a Goiás, finalmente nos encontramos e foi possível a interação tão esperada: a impressão que eu fiz, da matriz que ele criou, no corpo dele.

Ever since I started interacting with Helder­, long before my trip to the state of Goiás, where he lives, to be part of DIGO Festival, in our experiments searching for a way for him to participate in my project, there came the idea of incorporating the engraving works he does and somehow fuse it with my own work.

As we played a game of experimentations with his body in many positions, I tried to learn about things that somehow touched him, that he loved and were meaningful to him. Hence came the idea of using his old desk, the one he loves working at, in some image.

The next step was suggesting using Helder’s own body as medium to some work he created, and then make a picture involving creator and work, fused. To make things even more complicated (“I’m only happy when it’s complicated.”) I imagined directing him to make phtos at his desk, then choosing one of these images so he would make the engraving, from which an impression on his body would be made. I would then register the final result of this process in pictures.

And so it happened. In one of the afternoons we interacted remotely I directed some photos of him by the old desk. From the chosen image he created the engraving-to-be-printed-in-his-body. When I went to Goiás we finally met, and the long awaited interaction was made possible: the printing that I made in his body from the engraving he created.
